One of my valued customers brought this article to my attention over the weekend. Indeed, the title is not surprising to me. Let me explain why.
In using supplements, are we aware of the ingredients that are in there? How are they made? What happens when they go through our body? These are just some questions that I ask myself in deciding whether to take something. Without clear understanding, I may choose instead to avoid it.
Our liver is one of the most important organs in our body. Unfortunately, it does not have any sensory glands near it. Hence, when our liver is under stress and unable to function properly, we will not feel pain. Often, we will see the issue flagging up in another part of our body as a symptom of a bigger issue at our liver.
Many dietary supplements are made from either synthetic chemicals, or those in extracted form. Are we sure these are good for our liver? More chemicals means more load on our liver, isn't it? In my earlier article, I have also emphasized on why wholesome foods are the wiser choice for us.
In addition, this article also highlighted non-steroid supplements with mixtures labeled as "Chinese herbs", "Korean herbs", or "Ayurvedic medications". This is not something new, as Dr Jau-Fei Chen has highlighted before about risky remedies inclusive of such ingredients. Read more about it here.
That's why is it so important for us as wise consumers to select a manufacturer who has many many years of experience in researching into wholesome plant foods. You can read more here on how superfoods are selected in Nutritional Immunology, with 30 years of history in research.
